I got this bass because I was in love with the P-bass’s low end but it didn’t have enough high end for me to hear it clearly through two drummers and two guitarists all at once. So I bought this bass and added a J-bass pickup to it to add more treble. I then did the same thing to the Road Worn P-bass that stays on the Allman Brothers truck. This bass was named by me and Ryan Murphy, Tedeschi Trucks Bands’ guitar and bass tech, chef and hot pepper expert. We were talking about it needing a name but I wanted to incorporate the church lady theme with a nod to Berry Oakley’s bass called “The Tractor”. We came up with “Beulah the Back Hoe”.
